Two Step Ups to Denmark
|
|
CISV is sending two delegations to Denmark for Step Up, one to “Breaking Walls” Step Up in Fyn and one to “Conflict Catchers” Step Up in Hareskov-Vaerlose.
At “Breaking Walls” Step Up, as with all Step Ups, the delegates will build attitudes, skills and knowledge to become active, global citizens and achieve these 4 primary educational objectives:
- Develop leadership skills
- Be willing to take initiative in own community
- Increase awareness of the world
- Develop as a person
At “Conflict Catchers” Step Up, the delegates will explore questions related to conflict and resolution, like the following:
So, what do you do with a conflict, once you’re caught in it? How to solve it? Or should we do anything with it in the first place? Maybe it will just go away if we ignore it long enough. What are different ways to solve a conflict? Is there a right or wrong way to do it? How to avoid conflicts or is it smart to avoid them?

“White Rose” Step Up in Germany
The “White Rose” Step Up will consider the story of Sophie and Hans Scholl, siblings were part of the “White Rose”, a group of students in 1942 who protested against the Nazi-Regime with leaflets, which was extremely dangerous at that time. Sophie and Hans Scholl had to resolve a huge conflict: They loved their country, but they didn’t agree with the cruelty against other humans. In Germany, they stand as timeless role models for civil and moral courage!
