OUR TRAVELING DELEGATIONS VILLAGE TO NORWAY Our delegation to Norway “Leave No Skillingsbolle Behind” Village is finishing its first week at camp. A skillingsbolle is a traditional pastry from Bergen, Norway. It is a bun filled with sugar and cinnamon. And just like people, no batch of skillingsbolle is the same. Each skillingsbolle has its own diverse set of qualities and differences that makes it special. Our goal is to help all skillingsboller find and explore their qualities and differences, and after this, find a way for them all to live together as one!

The “Untold Stories” Step Up to Brazil explains that its theme is based on the samba song “História pra ninar gente grande” which talks about a concept called “The History that History Doesn’t Tell.” It means that sometimes the things we learn in school or from other people only show one side of the story, and some stories are left out or changed. These are the stories that the song tries to uncover. We were inspired by this song to choose “Untold Stories” as our camp theme. We want to hear from all of you the untold stories of your countries and yourselves. The song talks about people who have been silenced for a long time. It tells their stories of struggles and hardships throughout history and how it affected their lives. The song emphasizes the importance of telling these stories, not just for learning history, but also for healing and making peace.

CISV USA wanted to create a new experience for our 16-17 year olds to connect, create, and inspire. Fortnight is a national CISV camp with a focus on community service. Fortnight gives participants the opportunity to discuss American identity, their individual identities, and how we can connect CISV within our communities. Participants think about ways in which they can positively impact their community in and out of CISV in order to make the world a better place.
CISV Jacksonville was proud to be represented by the Fortnight camp director Kerry McClure and Fortnight delegate Chloe Geoghegan.
