OUR TRAVELING DELEGATIONS
STEP UP TO INDONESIA HAS ARRIVED!
Our delegation to the “Nasi Rames” Step Up in Indonesia arrived on June 18th. This Step Up’s pre-camp explains its theme:
Nasi rames is an Indonesian dish of a scoop of nasi putih (white rice) accompanied by small portions of a number of other dishes, such as meat, vegetables, peanuts, eggs, and shrimp crackers. Nasi rames can be served on a plate or wrapped in banana leaf, teak leaf, or other kinds of leaves. There are several variations of nasi rames throughout Indonesia. But one thing is for sure: every single thing on a plate of nasi rames contributes its uniqueness to make the best taste of nasi rames.
Just like every single person in this world; with our uniqueness, we can contribute to the betterment of the world. So show us your true color, be proud of your uniqueness, be good, and take part to make this world a better place to live in.

VILLAGE TO MASSACHUSETTS IS OFF!
Our delegation to the “This Is Me” Village in Greater Springfield, Massachusetts arrived on Friday. This Villages’ pre-camp explains its theme:
THIS IS ME is a way for us to each embrace our individuality which leads to the diversity of our world. We may have things in common or different but that’s what allows each of us to be unique. Who you are and what you have to say matters in this world.

SAN FRANCISCO YOUTH MEETING
HEADS TO REDWOODS!
Our delegation to the “Bridging the Gap” Youth Meeting in San Francisco, California arrived on Saturday. This Youth Meeting’s pre-camp explains its theme:
We welcome all of you to our Bridging the Gap Camp where we will, like bridges, make connections between each other, our Countries, our World, and also within ourselves. We’ve spent the last couple of years in a worldwide crisis and now we are emerging and figuring out what type of person we want to be.

OUR HOSTED CAMPS
STEP UP
CISV focuses on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. For this Step Up, the theme is living within a rainforest’s ecosystem. In nature, diverse communities-like animals, plants, and insects live in harmony and rely on the existence of others to thrive. Together they’ll explore the importance and benefits of differences, the feeling of belonging, and creating intentional spaces for conversation.
We are currently hosting delegations from Brazil, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Israel, Latvia, Sweden, and the USA.
FACES OF JACKSONVILLE VILLAGE
Our chapter is also hosting FACES of Jacksonville, a free 2 week overnight camp for rising 5th and 6th graders. It is sponsored by our Jacksonville chapter in an effort to promote community harmony by using the same curriculum at CISV’s flagship international program “Village.” It is a mini-village experience that will develop how campers communicate, cooperate, and live together-during and after camp.

This Year’s Theme
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
This year, the theme for all camps aligns with CISV’s multi-year theme focusing on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion instead of one of the four peace education content areas.
Our differences in identity are what make each one of us unique. Identities include (but are not exclusive to) race, age, ethnic origin, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, gender identity, or abilities. In CISV, we recognize that the intersecting of these identities means that people within our family will experience different levels and types of discrimination and disadvantage or privilege and advantage within CISV.
While we understand that everyone who participates in CISV was raised in differing environments, with differing beliefs, CISV must be an organization where everyone feels that every part of them belongs here. Discrimination against anyone based on their identities, which often cause them to be marginalized within the wider world, does not align with our values and is unacceptable within CISV.
We want our organization to be one where everyone feels that they belong for all of who they are.
