Welcome to the first Summer Snapshot of 2023!

We’ll publish weekly through our busy summer to keep you up-to-date with all things CISV Jacksonville!

This Snapshot will feature our traveling delegations from Village to Michigan and Mexico, Step Up to Washington, and our Seminar camp here in Jacksonville.

OUR TRAVELING DELEGATIONS

VILLAGES TO MEXICO AND MICHIGAN HAVE FINISHED THEIR FIRST WEEK AT CAMP

Our delegation to Michigan “PIT-STOP” Village enjoys an excursion to the Ford Museum. The theme of “pit stop” is meant to be a place where you regroup with your team to refuel, plan strategies, a place to rest so
you can keep going through your journey.

Our delegation to Mexico Village enjoys an outing with their host family.

Village camps have 4 primary educational goals.

To become more aware of ourselves, other people and cultures, and the wider world
To be willing to be a responsible and active member of our communities
To be able to take action for positive social change within our communities
To understand peace, non-violent action, and social justice

OUR DELEGATION TO “PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE” STEP UP

This Step Up’s pre-camp explains its theme: It’s proven that helping people improves our social interactions which will help us become better active global citizens. Our goal is to cherish the diversity we encounter in order to create global friendships you can remember and count on for the rest of your life.

OUR SEMINAR CAMP IN JAX

our wonderful Seminar camp staff

We are currently hosting delegates from 12 countries for our Seminar Camp. Our Seminar Camp ends this Saturday.

If you have not yet helped with our Seminar Camp, please join us for camp breakdown this Saturday. Meet at the camp location (about 90 minutes from Jacksonville) at 9am for camp clean up and/or at our storage unit in Jacksonville at noon. We also need people to wash bedding after camp.

If you cannot help in person, donations are welcome. Make a donation here.

Seeking friendly 4th & 5th graders
for FACES camp

We have space for additional kids for FACES of Jacksonville camp
from July 24 to Aug 4.
FACES is a free camp and
will be held at 191 Pecan Street, Jacksonville, FL 32211.

Youth should have just completed 4th or 5th grade.

Sunday, Aug 20 – Parent & Youth Debrief from 3:30p-6p.
This is a mandatory event for all 2023 delegates and their parents

CALL TO PARENTS: Over the summer we will feature CISV Jacksonville’s graduating seniors. We want to make sure everyone is included. Please send us a photo of your graduate. It can be any photo: CISV related, graduation photo, etc.

SENIORS: We are accepting senior quotes! How has CISV impacted you as a person first and as a leader?
