October 15, 2019 PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
I hope everyone is excited to find out where we will be going in 2020. October is an exciting month for CISV Jacksonville. We are sending a great team to the National CISV Conference (CISV In Motion) in Decatur, Georgia next weekend. At this meeting we will find out which programs we will be participating in 2020, networking with other chapters, and getting great ideas. Please join us for our Reveal at JU on Saturday October 26th at JU at 4:00. Please bring your friends. We will celebrate our successful 2019 year and recognize participants, the Junior Branch has some fun activities planned, and we will reveal our Camps for 2020.
We already are busy recruiting for two Interchanges – Italy and France – so if you know of kids 12-13 or 14-15 that are interested in this great program, please check out our website to apply as we are already taking applications.
In Peace,
Michael Magevney

Reveal Event: At the end of the JB activity, we will have the Fall General Meeting and Reveal Event from 4 pm to 5:30 pm. 2019 CISV delegates and their leaders will be recognized and you’ll learn the dates and locations of our 2020 programs. Please bring your friends who may be interested in CISV programs. 2020 Interchange programs We are happy to announce our interchange opportunities for 2020. We will have 2 opportunities.
In the interchange program, youth are matched with a child from the other country of the same gender. At least 6 Jacksonville youth and a well-trained adult leader will participate in the interchange as the USA delegation in each delegation. In the interchanges, the other country’s children will visit Jacksonville for 2 weeks and the Jacksonville children will live with the family of their international partner for two weeks during the same summer. The hosting phases may reverse, and all dates are tentative. During the hosting phase in Jacksonville, the Jacksonville families participate in a variety of outings that they plan with the Interchange leader and share their family life. This program encourages a deeper understanding of another culture by enabling young people to live as family members. See our video introducing the interchange program. CISV 101s
