January 8, 2019 From our President January is an exciting time for our CISV family. We just finished hosting 28 kids from around the world at our youth meeting. Thank you to all the volunteers that planned, set up, planned and broke down camp and fed and hosted the participants. We also continued to build global friendships by sending delegates to winter delegations in Austria, India and Guatemala. We have our first 2 Village play dates on Jan 12 and Jan 26. The selection overnight begins at 7pm on Fri, Feb. 8. More applicants are needed so please tell every family that you know with an 11 year old. Share this short video. The selection overnight for Step Up, Interchange, and Youth Meetings is Fri, Feb 1starting at 7pm. Vienna Interchange has plenty of openings. Here’s a flyer to share. We continue to have CISV 101s so please spread the word. Our applications are out and due in January. Don’t wait until the last minute. Applications available here. Register for the JB Cook-off on Jan 26 here. The “We I am so appreciative of all we will have accomplished in 2018, and we are looking for a great 2019.

Three delegates from our chapter are representing the USA at programs this winter.
Ellie is a Jr. Counselor at Barrilete Village in Guatemala. Barrilete are handmade kites celebrating ancestors. Each barrilete has its own color and style it’s a perfect way to relate it in CISV’s theme of the year DIVERSITY referring to how everyone is different and each one has his own personality and characteristics.
Kristin traveled halfway around the world to Chandighar, India for CHHAAP youth meeting. The precamp notes that “it is important to understand that every individual has the power to think and act -to create a peaceful world to live in.
If everyone was the same, you wouldn’t be you, and I wouldn’t be ME !
Differences make us Unique. This identity of ours is represented in our own, one of a kind fingerprint.”
Ella represented the USA at a youth meeting in Austria held in an 800 year old castle. Her fellow delegates were from Austria, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, India, Italy, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain, Sweden and USA.
