DESCRIPTION:This event is open to 12 years old and above! This includes all adults (leaders\, parents\, and alumni).\nThis event is a Junior Branch Board initiative in partnership with the United Way of Northeast Florida. We need 30 participants (adults and children) to make this a successful simulation.\nCISV camp programming often includes simulations that allow youth to better understand different social issues from poverty and human rights to trust and miscommunication. This partnership with United Way allows the Junior Branch to be full participants by handing the facilitation over to United Way. \nFor parents and adults\, this is a unique opportunity for you to experience a fraction of what children may take part in at a CISV camp program. It will also provide understanding of the poverty demographics in our city. \nWhen You Sign Up:\n\nIf multiple members of your family are participating\, please have each person register. Our international guests represent China\, Denmark\, Ecuador\, Guatemala\, Iceland\, Italy\, Mexico\, Norway\, Portugal\, Sweden\, and the USA. \nWhat is Open Day?\nAt Open Day\, each delegation will present their culture through traditional dances and performances\, followed by an interactive expo where guests can engage with the children and learn about their countries. This family-friendly event offers our community a unique opportunity to welcome these young international visitors. \nWhere is Open Day?\nOpen Day will take place in the Riverside neighborhood of Jacksonville. DESCRIPTION:CISV Jacksonville selects youth for its Faces program (for kids who are 9\, 10 or 11 years of age during the camp dates). \nSelection events provide children with a firsthand experience of CISV games and activities\, offer parents insights into CISV’s educational principles and program specifics\, and allow our chapter to familiarize itself with youth and leader applicants. \nWe also invite adults to a CISV “101” Info Session to delve deeper into CISV’s principles. \nThe Faces Programs aim to cultivate an understanding of each other’s lives and foster communication\, cooperation\, and communal living. Selection criteria include a child’s maturity\, openness to new experiences and people\, enthusiasm for participation\, and the ability to be away from family during the program. The delegation’s personality mix is also considered. \nActivities are typically planned and led by teenage leaders from the Junior Branch and experienced adult delegation leaders. DESCRIPTION:CISV Jacksonville conducts three events to select participants for its Village program (children born between September 1\, 2013\, and August 31\, 2014) and Faces program (4th or 5th-grade students in the 2024-25 school year): \n\nTwo Saturday Morning “Play Days”\nOne Friday Night Overnight (Mandatory)\n\nAttending more events increases the likelihood of selection. The overnight event is mandatory. \nThese selection events offer children a glimpse into CISV games and activities\, provide parents with a deeper understanding of CISV’s educational principles and program specifics\, and allow our chapter to familiarize itself with youth and leader applicants. \nWe also host a CISV “101” Info Session for adults to gain insights into CISV’s principles. \nThe Village and Faces Programs aim to foster understanding\, communication\, cooperation\, and communal living. Selection criteria include a child’s maturity\, openness to new experiences and people\, enthusiasm for participation\, and the ability to be away from family during the program. The composition of personalities within the delegation is also considered for a balanced mix. \nActivities are typically planned and led by teenage leaders from the Junior Branch and experienced adult leaders. Planning selection events enables our chapter’s youth leaders to hone their leadership skills. \nAll Village applicants and their parents will undergo interviews during one of the selection events. DESCRIPTION:Current 4th and 5th graders who would like to attend CISV’s free FACES of Jacksonville camp from July 24 to Aug 4 should attend one or both of the FACES play dates.\nYouth will participate in typical CISV games and be interviewed by a committee of CISV volunteers to see if the child seems ready for the CISV experience.\nOthers who should attend the play date are\n\n\nYouth who are 16-17 years old that would like to be Jr Counselors at FACES\n\n\nAdults age 18 or older that would like to be leaders at FACES\n\n\nWe will also have a session to introduce parents to CISV educational goals and principles.\nPlease register to attend this event.\nIf you have not registered for FACES\, you can do so at this link: https://jacksonville.cisvusa.org/invitations/faces-of-jax-2023/.\n
