SUMMARY:Village Selection Event #3 - Mandatory Overnight
DESCRIPTION:To select youth for its Village program\, CISV Jacksonville hosts 3 events. \n\n2 Saturday morning “play days”\n1 Friday night overnight\n\nThe more events you attend the greater likelihood you have of being selected.  The overnight is mandatory. \nSelection events are intended to give kids a chance to see what CISV games and activities are like\, to give parents greater understanding of CISV’s educational principles and program details\, and to give our chapter the opportunity to get to know the youth and leader applicants. \nThe goal of the Village Program is to learn about each other’s lives and how to communicate\, cooperate and live together.  Selection is based on a child’s maturity\, openness to new experiences and people\, enthusiasm about participation and ability to be away from family for the duration of the program. Additionally\, the mix of personalities to form the delegation is a factor. It would not be good to put all extreme extroverts together\, for example. \nThe activities are generally planned and led by the teenage leaders of the Junior Branch and adults who have led delegations in the past.  Having to plan the selection events allows the youth leaders in our chapter to continue to practice their leadership skills. \nAll Village applicants and their parents will be interviewed during one of selection events.  Please complete your application before the overnight. \nIf your child has applied\, sign up to bring a food item on Feb 8  here and sign up for a parent interview on Jan 26 or Feb 8 here. \nLearn more about the selection process here. \nAccess the application forms here.

SUMMARY:National Minicamp in Detroit - Memorial Day
DESCRIPTION:WHAT IS NATIONAL MINICAMP (NMC)?\nEvery Memorial Day weekend\, JB USA hosts the National Mini Camp. This weekend brings together JBers from JB USA to participate in fun\, educational activities that celebrate the CISV philosophy and provide an opportunity for youth to learn\, grow\, have fun\, and build friendships. National Mini Camp is open to all JBers\, age 11-25. The activities will be structured around our four educational content areas: sustainable development\, diversity\, conflict and resolution\, and human rights. \nWHY CISV University?\nOne of the many reasons lots of people love CISV is the learning that it fosters. So it seems only natural that at some point there would arise a “CISV University\,” where CISVers from all over can come together to learn from one another! So get ready for the best for years (days) of your life\, as you open the door to the world through education\, dialogue\, and of course\, fun! \nHOW DO I REGISTER?\nClick on this link to register: http://events.constantcontact.com/register/event?llr=9hec5yzab&oeidk=a07eg7ukxhse35ea446 \n  \nMore information is available at https://nmc2019.weebly.com/\n
