DESCRIPTION:To select youth for its Village (kids born in 2012) and Faces (kids in 5th grade in 2022-23 school year) programs\, CISV Jacksonville hosts 3 events.\n\n\n2 Saturday morning “play days”\n\n\n1 Friday night overnight\n\n\nThe more events you attend the greater likelihood you have of being selected.  The overnight is mandatory.\nWe are also offering a CISV “101” information session for prospective participants and their families.\nSelection events are intended to give kids a chance to see what CISV games and activities are like\, to give parents greater understanding of CISV’s educational principles and program details\, and to give our chapter the opportunity to get to know the youth and leader applicants.\nThe goal of the Village and Faces Programs is to learn about each other’s lives and how to communicate\, cooperate and live together.  Selection is based on a child’s maturity\, openness to new experiences and people\, enthusiasm about participation and ability to be away from family for the duration of the program. Additionally\, the mix of personalities to form the delegation is a factor. It would not be good to put all extreme extroverts together\, for example.\nThe activities are generally planned and lead by the teenage leaders of the Junior Branch and adults who have led delegations in the past.  Having to plan the selection events allows the youth leaders in our chapter to continue to practice their leadership skills.\nAll Village applicants and their parents will be interviewed during one of selection events.  We prefer if youth interested in participating in a Village apply before the selection event but if you are just interested in learning more\, please join us for the events without applying.\nApply for Village\nApply for Faces\nGet reference form for your child’s teacher to complete\nSign up for a Parent Interview (Village program only)\nLearn more about the selection process here.

SUMMARY:Village and Faces Fun Day #2 2024 & CISV 101
DESCRIPTION:CISV Jacksonville conducts three events to select participants for its Village program (children born between September 1\, 2012\, and August 31\, 2013) and Faces program (4th or 5th-grade students in the 2023-24 school year): \n\nTwo Saturday Morning “Play Days”\nOne Friday Night Overnight (Mandatory)\n\nAttending more events increases the likelihood of selection. The overnight event is mandatory. \nThese selection events offer children a glimpse into CISV games and activities\, provide parents with a deeper understanding of CISV’s educational principles and program specifics\, and allow our chapter to familiarize itself with youth and leader applicants. \nWe also host a CISV “101” Info Session for adults to gain insights into CISV’s principles. \nThe Village and Faces Programs aim to foster understanding\, communication\, cooperation\, and communal living. Selection criteria include a child’s maturity\, openness to new experiences and people\, enthusiasm for participation\, and the ability to be away from family during the program. The composition of personalities within the delegation is also considered for a balanced mix. \nActivities are typically planned and led by teenage leaders from the Junior Branch and experienced adult leaders. Planning selection events enables our chapter’s youth leaders to hone their leadership skills. \nAll Village applicants and their parents will undergo interviews during one of the selection events. DESCRIPTION:Selection events provide children with an opportunity to experience CISV games and activities\, offer parents a deeper understanding of CISV’s educational principles and program intricacies\, and allow our chapter to acquaint itself with youth and leader applicants. \nThese events are organized and led by teenage leaders from the Junior Branch and experienced adult delegation leaders. Planning selection events serves as a platform for our youth leaders to further develop their leadership skills. \nFor interested families\, we offer a CISV parent “minicamp” from 7:30 to 9:30\, providing parents with the chance to engage in activities similar to those conducted at camp. \nAll Village applicants and their parents will undergo interviews during one of the selection events. DESCRIPTION:Come learn what CISV is all about!! \nWe will be hosting a CISV 101 in Riverside/Avondale (at a CISV families house) on November 21st at 6pm! Come learn about all of the national and international programs we will offer for the summer of 2025 for children ages 11-17 years old and a FREE 2 week FACES program at the end of July that we will offer in the Jacksonville area for those children entering 5th-6th grade. \n*Presentations run about 60-90 minutes long and we encourage you to bring your child if they would like to attend.
