Thanks to all of you that helped make Sunday’s Fall General Meeting and Reveal such a success.

I was lucky to attend our National Meeting, CISV in Motion (CIM) in Michigan. We should be proud to have one of the best chapters in the country. This is a testament to the hard work our kids, parents and volunteers do every day to make Jacksonville CISV a success.

Now is the time to share the news and bring your friends to a CISV 101. Here is a flyer that you can share with friends.

The Junior Branch has some exciting activities planned this month and next. This is a wonderful way to stay connected to CISV at the local level and connect with friends. (Click Here)

We are hosting a Winter Youth Meeting at the end of December (December 23 – January 3) which has participants from 12 countries. Sign up here to help with meals, transportation, supplies and hosting.

We have some exciting programs and interesting locations for 2019 but it takes a Village to fill our Village and other program offerings. Speaking of Village – our chapter will be hosting a Village in the summer of 2019. We are excited to show the rest of the world Jacksonville and our chapter.

We had a perfect fall afternoon for our JB Fun Day followed by our Fall General Membership Meeting. The highlight of the event was 2019 reveal which was kicked off with a Kahoot Quiz giving us clues about our locations. Drum roll, please…

Village (Age 11): four weeks international camp for delegations of two boys and two girls and one adult leader. The multicultural camp features a mix of educational, cultural and sports activities, which emphasizes cooperative living. Youth are eligible if they have birthdates between 6-1-2007 to 8-31-2008.
- Linkoping, Sweden: July 5 to August 1
- Belo Horizonte, Brazil: June 29 to July 26
- Sao Paulo, Brazil: December 27, 2019 to January 23, 2020
Interchange: A bilateral, family centered exchange between two CISV chapters which encourages a deeper understanding of another culture by enabling young people to live as family members.
- Amsterdam, the Netherlands (Age 12-13) – 2 weeks hosting in Jacksonville and 2 weeks in the Netherlands. Tentative dates are traveling in Austria: July 12 to July 27 and hosting in the Netherlands: July 27 to Aug 10. Youth are eligible if they have birthdates between 6-1-2005 to 8-31-2007.
- Vienna, Austria (Age 14-15)– 2 weeks hosting in Jacksonville and 2 weeks in the other country. Tentative dates are hosting in Jax: June 29 to July 15 and travel in the other country: July 18 to Aug 4. Youth are eligible if they have birthdates between 6-1-2003 and 8-31-2005.
Youth Meeting : Individual themed camp that allows young people to explore intercultural issues and reinforces core CISV values, builds leadership and organizational skills.
- Denver, Colorado: July 10 to July 24 – 6 spots for 3 girls and 3 boys. (Age 12-13 – Youth are eligible if they have birthdates between 6-1-2005 to 8-31-2007).
- Oslo, Norway: July 21 to July 28 (1 spot). (Age 16-18 – Youth are eligible if they have birthdates between 6-1-2000 to 8-31-2003).
Step Up: Three week international camp for delegations of two boys and two girls and one adult leader. This is a multicultural camp, which develops a particular theme through international activities and discussions. The emphasis is one youth leadership through adult facilitation.
- Columbus, Ohio: June 14 to July 6 (Age 14 – Youth are eligible if they have birthdates between 6-1-2004 to 8-31-2005).
- Florence, Italy: July 12 to August 3 (Age 14 – Youth are eligible if they have birthdates between 6-1-2004 to 8-31-2005).
- Fyn, Denmark: July 6 to July 28 (Age 15 – Youth are eligible if they have birthdates between 6-1-2003 to 8-31-2004).
Fortnight: An innovative and engaging two-week domestic summer program for 16-18 year olds from each CISV USA chapter. Youth are eligible if they have birthdates between 6-1-2000 to 8-31-2003.
- Austin, TX: July 14 to July 26
Junior Counselor: Serve as a Junior Counselor at an international Village.
- Philadephia, PA: June 27 to July 24 (Youth are eligible if they will be 16 or 17 years during the dates of the Village.)
- Lucknow, India: December 28, 2019 to Jan 24, 2020 (Youth are eligible if they will be 16 or 17 years during the dates of the Village.)
Seminar Camp: Thirty participants from around the world develop their own agenda and explore global issues based on their backgrounds and interests, through activities and in-depth discussions. Youth selected through CISV national selection process.
- See application for dates and locations including Greece, Norway, Singapore, Romania, etc.
International People’s Project: Locally run projects that benefit a community and its environment. In partnership with local organizations, about 25 volunteers from at least four different countries work together on a community project. These programs run for 15 day periods in June, July and August. (Ages 19+). $350 for 2-week service project abroad.

Youth will bake cookies to donate. We need your help making this happen. We could use donations of cookie dough, cookie sheets and cookie decorating materials. We will also be be collecting toiletries for the Sulzbacher Center.

CISV Coffee

An idea inspired from attendance at the Global Conference is selling a local product to raise funds to help defray the costs of hosting a Village. We are selling locally roasted coffee. Brass Tacks Coffee is a local, specialty coffee roaster helping us. We will be selling coffee to help with local recognizion of our CISV brand and will help us raise some funds. We got a sampling of this smooth coffee at the Fall General Meeting. Please keep us in mind when going for your next cup of coffee or shopping for holiday gifts.

December JB & Mosaic Event

The Jr Branch and adult board are planning a Mosaic event this December 2nd at the Humane Society. Please mark your calendar. We will be making warmers for kittens and dog toys and accepting docations of dog and cat food, used blankets and stuffed animals. Adults will also have the chance to walk dogs and children can assist.

This is a family event, so all are welcome!

CISV 101s

At a CISV 101, prospective youth andparents can hear about CISV educational programs from youth and adult participants. A CISV 101 is the main way that our chapter recruits new members.
